Leather

Full-grain Leather:

Refers to the hide as a whole, which means the upper "top" layer and the "split" layer have not been separated. This type of leather has not been sanded, buffed or treated sigifically aside from removing the hair. Because this, it still shows some minor imperfections or natural flaws.

Top-grain Leather:

Refers the "top" layer minus a few milimeters. It has been seperated from the "split" layer. After removing the hair, this type of leather has been sanded and buffed to get rid of the imperfections, which gives it a more uniform look than full-grain leather.

Split Leather:

Refers to the "split" layer after it is separated from the upper top grain. An artificial leather grain layer is embossed on the split, creating a  smooth surface similar to the "top" layer.

Synthetic Leather

Bicast Leather:

Refers to "split" leather which has a layer of PU (Polyurethane) applied and then embossed to its suface.

Bonded Leather:

Refers to a material which is composed of 90% to 100% leather fibres bonded together with latex binders. This creates a a look and feel which is similar to that of leather. On top it has a layer of PU (Polyurethane) applied and then embossed to its suface.
