Care Instructions for Aluminium

Aluminium is especially suited for the use of Outdoor furniture due to its characteristics. It is very robust, sturdy and rust-free. Irrespective of the season, such furniture defies sun, wind and weather; plus it is also much more durable than synthetic furniture. The components made from aluminium are powder-coated, whereby this embellishes the material and improves its already low maintenance.

Normal Care

Small stains can be rinsed with water plus an additional mild cleaning agent if need be. Make sure to wash it away with water afterwards and to rub it down with a soft cloth.

Persistent stains require dish detergent or a special care product for aluminium. For greasy spots you can employ organic resolvents like ethyl alcohol. Be careful to only let them reacty briefly and make sure to rub them off gently afterwards, otherwise the aluminium’s surface might tarnish.

The general rule is to use mild cleaning agents and to rinse them off thouroughly afterwards to prevent corrosion due to residues from salt, acid or alkali.

Special Care

It is recommended to treat the powder-coated aluminium surfaces with a customary colourless varnish once a year.

Small scratches are not harmful for the material but they mostly do not look appealing aesthetically. If necessary they can be treated with paint care product.

Not recommended for the cleaning of aluminium are the following means:

• scraping and abrasive dloeaning products

• solvent based cleaners

• strong acrid or alkaline resolvents

• steel wool

• ketones (e.g. Acetone)

• glycol ether

• fuel

• diluter

Never tend aluminium in direct sunlight. The surface’s temperature should never be over 25°C during the cleaning process.

Storage

If aluminium furniture is kept in storage for a longer period of time, make sure to let a small layer of air remain between the cover and the piece of furniture to prevent the formation of condensed water. Simple pieces of wood or somethng similar are suited as spacers.
