Care Instructions for Plexiglas (Barhocker)

Acryl glass, which is mostly known as Plexiglas, has a very hard surface for being a synthetic material and no sharp breaking edges. In comparison to other materials, however, it is rather prone to to scratches, especially through mineral materials like sand. The wrong cleaning agents can also lead to the formation of cracks.

Cleaning

Small stains can be removed by using diluted dishwashing detergent and a soft sponge. A lint-free microfibre cloth can be utilised alternatively. For greasy stains a benzene free petroleum or a glass cleaner recommended for acryl glass are suitable.

It is advisable to regularly treat surfaces made from Plexiglas with a polishing agent. This removes traces of use or scratches, plus it also contains sealing and dirt-repellent components which help protect the product.

Not recommended for the cleaning of Plexiglas are the following means:

  • organic resolvents like dilutions, alcohol (e.g. window cleaner), fuels, etc.

  • scrubbing agents

  • abrasive cleaning agents as well as harsh paper towels (cause scratches)

Plexigla should not be exposed to strong heat (max. 60°C).
